Geologists’ Examination 2010 Result Announced

     Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the result of Geologists' Examination, 2010 based on the written examination held by in December, 2010 and the interview for Personality Test held in October, 2011. UPSC has come out with the list in order of merit, of candidates who have been recommended for appointment to the posts of :

            CATEGORY-I (Posts in Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines)
                        (a) Geologist, Group ‘A’

            CATEGORY-II (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water     Resources)

                        (a) Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group ‘A’
                        (b) Assistant Hydrogeologist, Group ‘B’

The total number of candidates recommended for appointment in List-I (Category-I) is 236, which include 107 General Candidates, 67 belonging to Other Backward Classes, 39  belonging to Scheduled Castes, 22  belonging to Scheduled Tribes and one PH candidate.
17 Posts in category-I were reserved for Physically Challenged candidates belonging to the category of Hearing Impairment having functional Classification Partially Deaf (PD). Only one Physically Challenged candidate of Hearing Impaired category qualified in the examination and has been included in the list.

The total number of candidates recommended for appointment in List-II (Category-II) is 16, which include 8 General Candidates, 3 belonging to Other Backward Classes, 3 belonging to Scheduled Castes and 2 belonging to Scheduled Tribes category.

01 vacancy in category-II reserved for Physically Challenged (Hearing Impairment) having functional Classification Partially Deaf (PD) will remain unfilled as no eligible candidate is available against the vacancy.

Appointment to the two categories will be made according to the number of      vacancies available which are as under:-

In accordance with Rules 14 (4) & 14 (5) of the Geologists Examination, 2010, the Commission is maintaining a consolidated list of 68 candidates ranking in order of merit below the last recommended candidates under the Category-I,which includes 34 General, 27 Other Backward Classes, 4 Scheduled Castes & 3 Scheduled Tribes candidates for operation, if at all required.

UPSC has a 'Facilitation Counter' near Examination Hall in its campus. Candidates can obtain any information/clarification regarding their examination/ recruitment on the working day between 10.00 hrs. to 17.00 hrs in person  or over telephone Nos. 011-23385271 / 23381125.  Result will also be available on the UPSC web site i.e. www.upsc.gov.in.  However, marks on the web site will be available in due course for a period of thirty days.
