The scheme for extension of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana to licensed porters, licensed vendors and licensed hawkers has been finalized in consultation with Ministry of Labour & Employment and instructions have been issued to Zonal Railways on January 27, 2011 for implementation through the State Government Nodal Agencies. As per the scheme, 75 per cent of the premium will be borne by the Railways and the balance 25 per cent to be contributed by the beneficiaries.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri K. H. Muniyappa in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
