The teachers did not go to school and stayed away from work in support of their demand for the LT grade, said Nand Kishore Kukreti, a leader of Junior High School Teachers Association.
He alleged that the state government was not paying attention to their "longstanding demand" in support of which the teachers of the state are sitting on dharna at various places.
Kukreti said the teachers have decided not to join schools till their demands are met.
Nearly 14,000 teachers are working in 1,200 Junior High Schools in the state.
On the other hand, state Education Minister Govind Singh Bist claimed that only 10 per cent teachers of the Junior High Schools are on strike
