12 teachers suspended for absentism in J&K

Twelve teachers have been suspended for dereliction of duty in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on complaints, Deputy Commissioner of Poonch Ajeet Kumar Sahu dispatched Deputy Chief Education Officer Mohammad Sadiq and ZEO to conduct surprise checking of the schools in Mankote belt of the district, official sources said.

During the surprise check, it was found that several primary and middle schools in Chowki, Nud, Basra, Dhara and Chawara were closed and 12 teachers were absent from duty, they said adding the teachers were chargesheeted.

CEO Ashraf Chouhan, based on an official report, later ordered suspension of the 12 teachers and the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) was asked to strictly monitor functioning of the schools, Sadiq said.
